A short one (I have been busy)

hey again!!!

It's been far too long. I promised myself that these wouldn't be this sporadic but life got in the way.

I've been doing this youth play at my local theatre that's been taking up a whole load of my time. I wasn't a massive fan of the play in general - it was a bit "skins"/teen angst, and that kind of stuff doesn't really float my metaphorical boat. I'd rather create my own idea of what it is to be a teenager by goin thru lyfe and crafting this ideal rather than have a 30 something telling me what it means to be a teenager.

But it was fun.

I also went back to the mile end vintage thing and managed to cop even more cool stuff. Will post photos soon!

All apologies for the shortness of this , have an amazing mashup of The Clash & Stevie Wonder (let it happen, it's gr8)

Park Excapade

Hello!

So recently I have had not much to do. I decided I had gotten a bit bored of sitting inside watching old episodes of The Office US edition and feeling sorry for myself, so I decided to make my own fun and go out for a walk in my local park. My dog was invited but, alas, turned down the invitation, as she is possibly the laziest sentient (i use that word very generously) being that I have ever met.

So I truckled off camera in tow and sat on a forked tree and listened to music for a bit (mostly Erykah Badu. Yeeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyeyey) and reflected upon this green space i've known my whole life. The deer were very skittish this time of day (about 4ish) for some reason and I could hear them scuttling about around me. I really like their hooves, it's like they've got little toes of hoof. V cute.

I then trekked up to a large hill which over looks most of South London, and further reflected, the shining lights of the houses and offices twinkling like bio-luminescent plankton in a murky sea. It was very peaceful up on that hill alone, my musical choices moving now to Radiohead.

SO here are 5 photos from the escapade, they are mosty experiments with light and shutter speed so b kind (:

Docklands & Dealings

Hey again!

So today I woke at the ungodly hour of 7:30 AM (ikr) in the hopes of grabbing some cheap, radical vintage clothing for the lowly sum of one whole pund each! It was near mile end, which was a massive trek to get to from South West London, especially when you realise you got the bus going the wrong way half an hour later. I'm not very smart in the mornings.

SO I truckled on up to this shifty little warehouse expecting it to be absolutely packed solid, as the event had been in the previous day (I couldn't attend because of Rehearsals for a youth project i'm involved in at the Rose Theatre in Kington). So imagine my surprise when I rock up and i'm the only person there (to be fair I was 45 minutes early, anticipating gargantuan queues)!!!!!!

The guy running the place introduced himself as "momo" and told me that everything was a pound, except for the hats which were three for £1- bargain hunt!!

With a few tubby asian women in tow, I perused the wares searching for spring time clothing, and picked out some lil gems, which I will post below. As I was paying for them, 'momo' asked me if i would come back another time, and model clothes for him and his website, which I said I would think about as something about this character seemed a little crooked, like I might just possibly be handing money to someone for stolen goods.

On my solitary bus journey back through the canary wharf area, I was struck by the beautiful architecture that enveloped me. Infinite office blocks towered into the clouds, and if I looked at them long enough, I could pretend that the clouds were the ground, the offices rising from a foamy sea and jutting into the ground. This made me extremely uncomfortable after a while, the thought of a skyscraper slicing sword-like through the stratosphere and into the N7 I was boarded upon was a sobering thought. I took a photo and tried to forget about it.

                                                                                    ~

These glasses are so sick man I try to wear them as often as possible i don't wear them to college becasue I worry about them gettin broken but honestly they make me feel hella comfortable and that is a big part of my style- comfort. Because I believe I both look and act at my best when I am completely mellow and calm and being in clothes that make me feel comfy help that. What do you think??????????

Sorry about the Grumpy shitty quality webcam selfie to show off my coat. I just like this picture because I look like a turtle

Comedy & Philosophy (also a mini album for you to listen to)

Hello again!

It's been too long. Let's catch up.

So by studying the title of this post, I hope you can deduce that this weekend has been a diverse one. I discovered the classic comedy The Office. And although the USA version is looked upon with much snobbery by many people I have talked to my new found interest about (they usually preferred the English version) I found the American series far more entertaining. I felt like the characters were more fleshed out and more zany (+ dwight is such a lil gus he is way better than that dead looking guy in the English one- i think he even played a zombie in the Pirates of the Caribbean film??) and i found myself actually "loling", which is something that doesn't happen often when I am alone in my room curled up in my duvet.

Another discovery I made this weekend was the Buddhist philosopher Allan Watts. I don't know if I mentioned this before but I have been living as a Mahayana Buddhist for about 6 months. I've always been fascinated with eastern ideologies and culture having been brought up in an area with a large asian community (the Kingston/ Norbiton area has the largest Korean population outside of Korea) and decided to adopt the principles slowly into my life. I meditate every night I can and have abstained from eating any kind of meat products, although I am finding the phasing out of Alcohol and drugs a little tough :/ . Anyway, back to ya boi Allan. His videos very simply illustrate Buddhist practices and views and his brill analogies help me cut through the often un translatable texts and ideas. One that really stuck with me was an analogy explaining the ideology of reincarnation. Whilst when you are reincarnated you do become something else, your core being remains the same, much like a universities staff and faculty change regularly, the institution remains unchanged (genius!)

And now, I leave you with a mini album you can listen to for free on bandcamp - it's three songs by a band called ANAMAI and I am unsure how to class them in terms of genre. I'll put a link to some Allan Watts lectures as well, bcoz you're gr8.

Luv ya,

Z

Visions

This is a lil Video I took of an interesting lil hologram type thing I saw in the National Portrait Gallery this monday. I can't remember who it depicts or who the artist was, all I remember was that she was a Barrister. It was my favourite thing I saw that day because it was the only portrait I saw that really made me think (which is one of my criteria for "good" art). The idea of looking at things from every perspective is something that is very important to me, and in some ways it is very annoying. I find it very hard to have concrete opinions on things, because I am constantly changing into other peoples shoes and not finding much time to find a pair of my own.

However, I think this is a necessary process for anyone to go through when forming an opinion. Because you could say that all opinions are correct as they are just that, opinions. They are subjective, and any who tells you your opinion is wrong is a bit of a dill-hole to be honest.

Let me illustrate this with a story.

There are 6 blind people living in the hills, who one day hear that an elephant is being paraded around their local town. Enthralled by the idea of being in the presence of such a noble and fabled animal, they all make their way down to the town. As they are told that they are approaching the elephant, in their excitement, the blind people all rush off in different directions. One of the blind people completely missed the elephant, and ended up grabbing thin air. He exclaimed "there never was an elephant at all! It was all a lie!". Another wrapped her hand around the elephants tail. Feeling the thin, limp appendage she mused "The elephant is a rope." The third blind person tentatively embraced the elephants leg. "The elephant is a pillar!" he exclaimed excitedly. Another touched the tip of the elephants tusk and drew back suddenly, in horror, screaming "The elephant is pain!" Finding shelter under the elephants large flapping ear, the fifth blind cooed said "The elephant is a comforting tent." The sixth and final blind person was greeted with the elephants muscular trunk. "The elephant is a garden hose?" she said, baffled.

I guess what i'm trying to get at is that all of them were interpreting one large, singular thing very differently. None of them were particularly wrong (except from maybe the guy who missed the elephant. What a mug) but none of them had a full grasp as to what they seeing, and if they had all put their views together they could have perhaps created a more compelte picture of the elephant???

Did any of that make any sense?? idk it made sense in my head

until tommorow

Me! (and a bit about clothes and time)

This is what tree-rot looks like! It was very cold when this photo was taken, which is why I have retreated into my yellow cocoon. This is a gnarly coat, I got it for like €50 in a French seaside town, which was a nice surprise as I was expecting it to cost about 3 times that! Whilst it's not very warm and has holes in 2 of its 3 pockets, it's a focal point of a lot of my winter outfits and I like it very much. A Swim Deep patch is imbued upon my right nip and helps to personalise the coat (bcoz btown) and make it more tree-rot instead of yellow coat. Coats are of great comfort to me, and is one of the reasons I love autumn and winter so much, I can hide myself away and feel encased in a fabric shield that acts like a beetles exo - skeleton, protecting all the gross mushy stuff that makes me work and think and function like a human being.

I used to not like the colour yellow very much, I thought i'd never be able to pull it off. But much has changed, and I imagine will continue to change, as the years have been progressing in this lads life. You, dear reader, are in the position of gazing in on a snapshot of just one frame in this bizarrely ordinary stop motion film. It may have little relevance as a singular, but as a whole, I promise it will tie together and make some kind of narrative of some kind of stage in some kind of life. I guess i'm some kind of historian??? Who knows.

Thank you!
